Representative Experience
Haeryung (pronounced heddy-young) Shin represents venture capital investors and emerging technology and growth companies, with particular concentration on investors and companies in the clean technology and renewable energy space. She has significant experience representing renewable energy investors in connection with portfolio companies including wind developers, consultants and downstream information product providers to the wind industry, and companies developing a wide range of renewable energy technologies.

Haeryung has regularly served as outside general counsel to technology and emerging growth companies and has represented, among others, a social networking company, a software development outsourcing company, a semiconductor lithography technology company, and a flexible optical fiber technology company. In that capacity, she has advised clients with respect to formation and start-up issues, equity compensation, angel and venture financings, technology licensing, joint ventures, development agreements, commercial contracts, mergers and acquisitions, and many other matters.

Recent representative transactions include:

• Lead investor’s counsel in acquisition and subsequent preferred stock financing of Quebec-based wind developer;
  
• Lead investor’s counsel in preferred stock financing of company delivering time-sensitive data and information on weather-based renewables (wind, solar, hydro) to renewable energy project operators, developers, financiers, marketers, and others;
  
• Co-counsel to company in $14 million Series B financing of luxury hybrid car company.

Outside investment counsel to several European private venture funds with respect to portfolio investments in the United States and Canada (2004-2008)
