Jonathan guides financial services clients through their most delicate and high-stakes controversies and regulatory matters. Having served as an enforcement attorney at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and Assistant Attorney General in Massachusetts, Jonathan offers clients the experience and perspective they need to solve problems and identify regulatory hot spots. Jonathan's clients describe him as a "super-humanly responsive" trusted advisor.

In matters with the CFPB, FTC, OCC, FDIC, and state attorneys general and financial regulators, Jonathan leverages his extensive experience and credibility to focus investigations and enable clients to effectively meet regulators' expectations. He handles matters related to TILA, RESPA, FDCPA, EFTA, ECOA, FCRA and their implementing regulations. In particular, Jonathan understands how regulators wield laws prohibiting unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices – and how to prevent and defend such claims.

In addition to leading the group's Enforcement and Investigations practice, Jonathan advises financial institutions offering open- and closed-end loans, small business financing, payment processing, cannabis payments, Banking as a Service, and other legacy and innovative products. He resolves inconsistencies where novel innovations don't square with current laws in a highly regulated industry, guiding in-house teams at fintech startups and large banks in product development and compliance.
