APRIL 11, 2019 – Julie Capell, a partner in the Employment Services Group of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, and Mary Haas, a partner in the firm's Litigation practice group, have been recognized in the Los Angeles Business Journal as two of the city's Most Influential Women Attorneys.

In a special section recognizing the 75 honorees, the Business Journal wrote that Ms. Capell "thinks of her clients' businesses as her own and strives to find economic, strategic and efficient ways to follow the law and avoid litigation risk." Ms. Capell, the Journal said, "keeps herself constantly informed of new legal developments and communicates those updates to her clients," giving her "insight and the ability to track the development of an issue before it reaches a critical mass."

Ms. Capell serves on the executive board of the Disability Rights Legal Center and is a Girl Scouts troop leader. She has been selected for Thomson Reuters "Super Lawyers" recognition in Southern California since 2017 and was a "Super Lawyers" Rising Star from 2008 to 2016. Lawdragon previously named her to its list of "40 Up and Comers in Employment Law."

The Business Journal highlighted Ms. Haas's "nearly 30 years of commercial litigation experience" and her "broad and diverse" practice handling a wide variety of breach of contract, fraud, and corporate governance matters for clients that include entertainment companies, financial institutions, health care providers, and real estate companies. Her "extensive experience in real property litigation, including easements, slander of title, and boundary disputes," was noted, as well as her significant experience as a creditor rights lawyer.

Ms. Haas is currently a member of the firm's executive committee and most recently served as the firm's Los Angeles partner-in-charge for the last 13 years. She is a member of the Central District Merit Selection Panel and also served on the board of the Los Angeles chapter of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers.

Davis Wright Tremaine is widely recognized as one of the country's leading law firms for women's success. In 2018, the Women in Law Empowerment Forum, which recognizes and promotes advancement of women in the legal profession, awarded the firm Gold Standard certification for the eighth consecutive year.
