JANUARY 31, 2020 – Camilo Echavarria and John LeCrone, both partners in the Employment Services Group of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, have been recognized in the Los Angeles Business Journal as among the city's Top Minority Attorneys.
Echavarria and LeCrone are both widely known for leadership in their practice area, their profession, and their communities.
Echavarria defends employers in single- and multi-plaintiff litigation and class action cases, with an emphasis on cases alleging disability discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour issues. He has successfully defended more than 30 lawsuits in the past 18 months for some of the country's most prominent employers.
Echavarria also has an extensive record of volunteer service to the profession and the community, with particular focus on promoting diversity and inclusion and providing resources for marginalized communities. He serves as board co-chair of the California Minority Counsel Program, which supports minority in-house attorneys, and on the board of trustees for the Mexican American Bar Foundation, which provides scholarships for first-generation Latino law students. He is on the board of Friends of the Children – Los Angeles and previously chaired the board of LK Health, a safety net provider in Los Angeles County.
Within Davis Wright Tremaine, Echavarria is a member of the Diversity Executive Council and serves as the Los Angeles partner-in-charge. He was previously named to Los Angeles Business Journal's list of "Most Influential Minority Lawyers" in 2018.
LeCrone represents employers and management in litigation alleging wrongful discharge, harassment, and discrimination, as well as wage and hour class actions, trade secrets/unfair competition claims, ERISA issues, and proceedings before federal and state administrative agencies. He counsels clients on issues that include privacy, employment agreements, wage and hour, and workplace technology, and assists with investigations of employment-related complaints, corporate malfeasance, and due diligence matters related to mergers and acquisitions.
LeCrone's clients include top entertainment and media companies, leading health care organizations, national hospitality and retail chains, aerospace companies, manufacturers, and mining operators, among others. Because of his extensive work in the healthcare industry, LeCrone was named a "Community Health Champion" at Eisner Health's "Promise of Care" event in 2018. He is recognized by "Best Lawyers in America" as one of the top practitioners in employment law and was inducted as a 2015 Fellow in the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers.
LeCrone served on Davis Wright Tremaine's executive committee and as co-chair of the firm's employment practice. He also spearheaded establishment of the firm's LGBTQ+ affinity group and continues to serve as its chair, focusing his attention and energy on building a community where lawyers feel welcomed and supported. Among the group's many initiatives are an annual networking event for law students, clients, and in-house counsel, held in Los Angeles (2018) and New York City (2019), and scheduled this year for the West Coast.
LeCrone serves on the board of USC Libraries and is a member of the advisory board for the USC Gould School of Law's Institute for Corporate Counsel, an annual day-long institute that focuses on the intersection of law, business, and politics.
