OCT. 21, 2022 – For the third straight year, Davis Wright Tremaine LLP has achieved "Mansfield Certification Plus," recognizing the firm's demonstrated commitment to elevating lawyers from under-represented minorities into positions of leadership.

The certification process measures law firms’ adherence to the Mansfield Rule. Under the rule, firms pledge to affirmatively consider at least 30% women, underrepresented racial/ethnic groups, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and lawyers with disabilities for leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions, formal client pitch opportunities, and senior lateral positions. Certification is achieved through a rigorous 12-month collaboration with Diversity Lab.

Mansfield Certification Plus status indicates that, in addition to meeting or exceeding the baseline requirements, the firm has reached at least 30% underrepresented lawyer representation in a notable number of current leadership roles.

“We are proud to achieve ‘plus’ status for a third consecutive year,” said Yusuf Zakir, Davis Wright Tremaine’s chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer, “and appreciate the framework that Mansfield provides, which empowers everyone at the firm to intentionally consider DEI in their everyday decision-making.”

Davis Wright has been widely recognized for its work advancing DEI. Earlier this month, the Minority Corporate Counsel Association named the firm a finalist for the Thomas L. Sager Award, recognizing a sustained commitment to improving the hiring, retention, and promotion of diverse attorneys.
