APRIL 3, 2025 – With environmental, social, and governance concerns rapidly evolving both domestically and globally, Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is pleased to welcome Stacey Sprenkel, an expert in advising clients on compliance risks, as a partner in San Francisco and head of the firm's ESG and Sustainability group.

Sprenkel comes to the firm from Morrison & Foerster LLP, where she served as co-chair of the ESG + Sustainability Practice, led the Global Ethics and Compliance team, and headed the firm's San Francisco litigation department.

Said Jaime Drozd, DWT's firmwide managing partner: "With Stacey's exceptional record of leadership and expertise, she will further develop an integrated, cross-functional practice that enables our existing and future clients to respond to the many ESG issues they increasingly face."

"Stacey is a highly accomplished lawyer and a proven builder," said DWT's San Francisco partner-in-charge, Vidhya Prabhakaran, a member of the firm's ESG practice who focuses on helping energy clients transition to renewable power sources. "As the political, social, and economic pressures surrounding ESG continue to shift and intensify, Stacey will expand our ability to provide sophisticated, practical, nuanced guidance across a wide range of issues, ensuring our clients find the path to meeting their strategic goals."

Said Sprenkel: "Now more than ever, clients need support in complying with complex and often conflicting ESG regulatory regimes and in defending their own ESG commitments. DWT's longtime strength in regulatory compliance, as well as the firm's leadership in green energy, DEI, and other key areas makes it a natural fit for my practice. I look forward to collaborating with experts in all of DWT's industry verticals to deepen client relationships and further strengthen the firm's ESG capabilities at this critical moment."

Sprenkel brings to DWT nearly two decades of experience working with legal and compliance teams, executive leadership, and boards of directors to assess compliance risks across organizations, advise on compliance programs and controls, and develop strategies to stay ahead of evolving legal regimes and enforcement environments. She leverages her master's degree in human rights to advise companies in connection with not only avoiding corruption, human rights, and other ethics and compliance risks, but also in root cause analysis and in developing effective mechanisms to remediate such issues if they arise. She conducts internal investigations on a broad range of issues, is regularly consulted on litigation matters that include fraud and civil RICO claims, and provides risk assessment and due diligence in support of a wide variety of corporate transactions.

Sprenkel has been widely honored for excellence, including being named to the Daily Journal's 2018 list of the Top 40 California Lawyers Under 40 and shortlisted for "Compliance Lawyer of the Year" at the C5 Group's 2020 Women in Compliance Awards.

Sprenkel received her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, her M.Sc. in Human Rights from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and her J.D. from Columbia Law School. She has also earned a Certificate in ESG & Sustainable Capitalism from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, and a Certificate in Sustainable Business Management from the University of Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership.
