FTC Responds to CFPB, Submits Summary of Enforcement Activities
In response to a request from the CFPB, the FTC recently submitted a summary of its 2013 enforcement activities (the "Summary"), which related the FTC’s enforcement actions and consumer education efforts with respect to Regulation Z (Truth in Lending), Regulation M (Consumer Leasing Act), and Regulation E (Electronic Fund Transfer Act) (collectively, the "Regulations").
The Summary illustrates the FTC’s ongoing efforts to enforce the Regulations vis-à-vis certain consumer financial services provided or marketed by companies such as auto dealers, payday lenders, consumer electronics retailers, refinancers of veterans’ home loans and other mortgage relief providers. The Summary also provides a particularly helpful resource containing links and citations to recent FTC consent orders, litigation actions, press releases, rulemaking and policy developments and more related to the Regulations.
