Panelist, "COVID-19 Enforcement Trends Panel," Davis Wright Tremaine Webinar
03.17.22
Since the COVID-19 pandemic began two years ago, the federal government has authorized more than $5 trillion in relief funds. Along with this unprecedented federal spending came a substantial amount of fraud targeting these federal programs. This presentation will focus on the federal law enforcement response to the pandemic.
DWT partner Alex Porter, along with Niall O'Donnell, Assistant Chief, U.S. Department of Justice Criminal Division, Fraud Section, explained what kinds of cases the government has prosecuted related to COVID-19 fraud (e.g., criminal healthcare fraud and False Claims Act cases), and discussed where federal regulators may focus their attention in the future as we enter year three of the pandemic.
