The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is honored to follow up our July event, focused on Isabel Wilkerson's book, "Caste," with a deeper dive into how the caste system works historically, and present day, in the Indian culture. This program is part of our regular DEI Education series.

Speakers Yashica Dutt and Professor Guha Krishnamurthi, discuss the historical and present day impacts of the Indian caste system. Dutt, a leading anti-caste expert, award-winning author of the non-fiction memoir, "Coming Out as Dalit," and published New York Times author, will discuss the issue with caste and how issues with caste discrimination present themselves today. Professor Krishnamurthi, an associate professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, will cover the implications of this discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, and how caste discrimination presents itself in the workplace. Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Tiffani Lambie moderated this event.
