The Office of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion was proud to present a discussion on tackling health inequities facing underserved communities, and the challenges associated with public health. This program was part of our regular DEI Education series.
Health disparities plague many regions of the country, specifically targeting certain areas. Issues with nutrition and access to quality health care rank among the most pressing. Public Health Solutions (PHS), an organization supporting New York City families, is the largest public health non-profit serving New York City. PHS works to "improve health outcomes and families thrive by providing services directly to the city's most vulnerable populations."
Lisa David, President and CEO, and Jemar Ward, Chief People Officer, of PHS, joined us for a discussion on public health, how health inequities are perpetuated by existing systems, and the diversity, equity and inclusion implications of their work. Hope Levy-Biehl, co-chair of the Healthcare Law Practice Group at DWT, served as the event moderator.
