Alex Hadjis is known as a standout first-chair patent trial attorney and litigator. He has more than two decades of experience handling complex, high-stakes disputes before federal courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC).
Recognized as a leading IP litigator—including being named one of Law360's 2021 MVPs for his successful defense of Roku in a high-profile patent infringement jury trial—Alex has regularly earned accolades for his work from Chambers, Legal 500, IAM Patent 1000, Super Lawyers, and The Washington Post. Alex also has received recognition for his pro bono work, having been named to the Capital Pro Bono High Honor Roll.
Alex serves as lead trial counsel in noteworthy cases. For example, he has successfully tried and litigated cases for companies such as Cypress Semiconductor, Freescale, Genesis Microchip, Huawei, Intel, Roku, Spansion, and Thomson Consumer Electronics. He has also led several amicus briefs before the U.S. Supreme Court as well as the Federal Circuit.
Alex focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation and cases involving the interface between intellectual property and antitrust law. He has handled cases that cover the semiconductor, liquid crystal display, telecommunications, medical device, optical storage media, software, biotechnology, small molecule, biologics, electronic systems, computer network, fluid dynamics and heat exchange, xerography, chemical, and automotive component fields. He has extensive experience litigating cases involving technology standards.
Beyond his own practice, where he has represented market-leading tech companies and startups, Alex has been instrumental in spearheading patent practice groups at previous law firms. He is regularly a featured speaker and author on patent law.
Alex served as a judicial law clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. And, Alex is a board member and pro bono advocate for the Wheeling Country Day School, serving lower and middle school students in West Virginia.
