Everett Jack (EJ) focuses his practice on litigation and risk management, including complex corporate and commercial litigation, officer and director defense, employment and insurance coverage.

EJ works primarily out of the New York and Portland, Oregon offices of the firm, but he is also licensed and handles matters in California, Washington, Alaska and Texas. He has also handled matters pro hac vice for clients in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Idaho, Montana, and Nevada. He also previously served as the chair of the firm’s Compensation Committee.

EJ’s diverse trial practice includes a wide range of commercial and insurance matters which are typically factually complex and highly technical. During his career he has tried or arbitrated more than 50 cases to verdict or decision, including cases throughout Davis Wright Tremaine, where his involvement was as lead trial counsel. He has been named as one of the “Best Lawyers in America” for Commercial Litigation in 2008 and from 2010 to present and as a Portland Super Lawyer for insurance matters from 2007 to present.

Civil trial practice

Tried and arbitrated more than 50 cases in a wide range of areas of law through verdict or decision, as well as litigated hundreds of cases in jurisdictions across the nation. Works closely with clients to analyze, understand, and anticipate next steps in litigation, and how best to strategically move the case forward to resolution, in furtherance of the litigation, or to trial.

Insurance

For 25 years has represented insurers such as Travelers, AIG, Continental Casualty, Genworth Financial, Transamerica, and IFG Companies consulting on underwriting, coverage, and litigation involving insurance policies of all types, nationally.

Director and officer

Consults with executives and companies concerning director and officer matters, corporate governance, and liability issues.
