Filipp Kofman is a partner in Davis Wright Tremaine's technology group and co-leader of the firm's AI Team. Filipp's practice focuses on negotiating agreements and counseling clients on matters involving intellectual property, technology, and data, including deployment and implementation of artificial intelligence technologies and systems. He has broad experience representing a wide range of early stage and established companies in these matters, particularly relating to procurement and commercialization of cutting-edge technologies. Leveraging his experience, Filipp takes a practical approach to negotiating complex transactions.

Filipp structures and negotiates a broad range of agreements, including software licensing agreements, SaaS agreements, OEM and technology integration agreements, services agreements, collaboration and development agreements, and manufacturing, supply, and distribution agreements. A key part of his practice involves advising companies on matters involving the development, procurement, use, and commercialization of innovative AI systems, models, and datasets, including generative AI models. He routinely advises companies in high-growth technology sectors, such as AI, cloud services, and cybersecurity, and structures and negotiates critical transactions of their behalf.

Filipp's practice also involves collaborating with clients in heavily regulated industries, including in the life sciences and fintech sectors. Filipp's life sciences work involves advising biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies on technology-related matters, including development, in- and out-licensing, research collaborations, and clinical trials agreements. In the fintech space, Filipp works with financial institutions, service providers, and fintech companies to structure and negotiate agreements for new products and technology offerings.

Filipp also counsels clients on intellectual property and commercial aspects of mergers and acquisitions and other critical corporate transactions.

Artificial Intelligence and data licensing

Structured and negotiated various AI licensing and services agreement, both from customer and vendor perspectives. Counseled client, negotiated agreements, and addressed inbound and outbound license of valuable data sets.

Cloud services agreements

Structured and negotiated outbound and inbound cloud services agreements, many of which involved complex sales, licensing, and privacy, and security issues. Counseled early-stage clients in structuring form customer agreements. Negotiated complex SaaS provider agreements, including white-label solutions agreements.

Development and manufacturing arrangements

Structured and negotiated various product development, manufacturing, and support agreements, including for consumer products.
