Amanda Levine represents and defends news and entertainment companies in a broad spectrum of media and First Amendment litigation and content-related matters, ranging from intellectual property, defamation, records and courtroom access, privacy, right-of-publicity, libel, copyright, and trademark issues. She also has experience representing individuals and corporations in commercial and civil litigations, securities litigations, government investigation, and white-collar matters.

Robert S. Trump v. Mary L. Trump

Successfully defended Simon & Schuster from a motion brought by the president's younger brother seeking to enjoin the publication of a memoir written by Mary Trump, the president's niece. (N.Y. Sup. Ct. 2020)

Guo v. Cable News Network, Inc.

Successfully defended CNN and Erin Burnett in a defamation action arising out of a news report on a member of Mar-a-Lago who had been accused of being a Chinese spy. (N.Y. Sup. Ct. 2020)

Cummings v. City of New York, et al.

Successfully defended New York Daily News and former Daily News reporter in suit asserting defamation and other tort claims arising out of news coverage of the termination of public school teacher who allegedly asked African-American students to act out a scenario illustrating the conditions of the "middle passage" of slaves' journey from Africa to the United States in front of their class. Motion to dismiss granted (2021 WL 1163654 (S.D.N.Y. Mar. 26, 2021)); motion for reconsideration denied (2021 WL 1664421 (S.D.N.Y. Apr. 28, 2021)); affirmed (2022 WL 2166585 (S.D.N.Y. June 16, 2022))

Huizenga v. NYP Holdings, Inc., et al.

Defended NYP Holdings Inc., the publisher of the New York Post, against allegations that an article reporting on the television series "The Biggest Loser" defamed plaintiff. Case was settled. (S.D.N.Y. 2020)

Mitchell v. Telegraph Media Group Limited

Represented The Telegraph in a dispute involving allegations that an article reporting on the use of performance enhancing drugs in track and field defamed plaintiff. (S.D. Fla. 2020)
