Brad Miller
Brad Miller helps leading entertainment production companies bring their creative visions to life by negotiating significant business transactions and advising on their business and legal risks. Over the course of his 20-plus year career, Brad has served as both in-house and outside counsel to many of the nation's top entertainment companies, including Amazon Studios where he was associate general counsel prior to joining DWT.
In doing so, Brad brings a wealth of experience to his practice spanning all angles of the entertainment business including a variety of roles (business affairs negotiation and legal affairs risk mitigation), types of content (feature films, scripted, and non-scripted television, as well as ancillary marketing content), points in the distribution chain (independent production companies, studios, networks, and streaming services), facets of practice (contract negotiation, legal compliance, content review, pre-litigation counseling, and litigation), and substantive areas of law (copyright, trademark, privacy, and defamation).
Brad has overseen the production legal affairs of hundreds of films and scripted and non-scripted television programs on dozens of programming services across the United States, the EU, India, Japan, and Latin America. As the founding partner of his own boutique entertainment transactional law firm, Brad helped bring up to scale the business affairs of clients such as Comcast Entertainment Group, MTV Networks, The Walt Disney Company, and AMC—where he led the network's launch of the hit TV series "The Walking Dead" and the launch of AMC Studios.
Drawing on his experience as in-house counsel for production and entertainment companies such as High Noon Entertainment, ABC Cable Networks Group, and Warner Bros. Television, Brad takes a business-oriented approach when advising clients with issues related to talent engagement and compliance with laws and regulations affecting production, including employment, safety, immigration, and laws regulating the engagement of minors. Brad is further experienced with advising major media and entertainment companies in prepublication review and litigating matters involving defamation, invasion of privacy, copyright, and trademarks.
