Mallory Morales is an associate in DWT's foundations and nonprofits practice group, where she advises nonprofit organizations and philanthropists on corporate, tax, and regulatory matters. Formerly a counsel at a national advocacy nonprofit, Mallory is well-positioned to help charities, foundations, healthcare systems, and other tax-exempt organizations navigate complex legal and tax issues.
Mallory provides clients, both large and small, with expert advice on a range of compliance and operational matters. Mallory coaches nonprofits, including 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations, on state and federal rules regarding taxes, contracts, grants, fundraising, lobbying, campaign finance, fiduciary liability, and nonprofit governance. Mallory works closely with DWT's corporate, healthcare, real estate, and transactional attorneys to provide clients with holistic counsel on various regulatory and organizational issues, as well as business and charitable ventures.
Before joining DWT, Mallory represented consumers, employees, and whistleblowers in litigation involving corporate fraud as well as corporations in commercial litigation matters. Her pro bono work included civil rights litigation and indigent criminal defense. While earning her law degree at Berkeley Law, she was elected editor-in-chief of the California Law Review and served as an extern for U.S. District Judge William H. Alsup, Northern District of California.
