Rebecca Schach is an employment lawyer. She handles complex class, collective, and representative actions in state and federal court. She also counsels clients on employment and labor compliance, specializing in wage-and-hour issues.

Rebecca has extensive experience in defending employers against claims involving the ADA, FMLA, FEHA, and a host of state-level laws, including the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA). She provides expert guidance on terminations, employee leave, unfair labor practice charges, OSHA standards, and independent contractor reviews, as well as all workplace policies and employee handbooks. Clients have included large and midsize employers in agriculture, transportation, healthcare, and various other sectors.

Before earning her J.D., Rebecca was an appellate judicial extern in California. As a litigator, she also has handled immigration appeals and other cases before EOIR and USCIS. She provides pro bono services focused on naturalization, DACA renewal, temporary visas for victims of domestic violence and trafficking, and criminal expungements.

Agricultural industry practice

Represents growers, processors, and vertically integrated operations in wage-and-hour class actions, PAGA representative actions, single plaintiff claims, internal investigations, and administrative charges.

Pay transparency dismissal*

Obtained a voluntary dismissal of a pay transparency class action where the plaintiff lacked standing. (2024)

Mandatory vaccination summary judgment*

Obtained a summary judgment defending a hospital's mandatory vaccination policy alleged as retaliation against healthcare workers in California. (2023)

PAGA representative actions for California restaurants*

Defending multi-chain "fast casual" restaurants in wage-and-hour class actions and PAGA representative actions alleging misclassification. (Ongoing)
