Damon Sima is a patent attorney at DWT. He has significant experience drafting patent applications and other USPTO documents related to inventions in the areas of computer software, electrical systems and devices, material science, mechanical systems, and manufacturing engineering.

Damon has also worked as a patent-litigation lawyer and has helped clients to manage their patent portfolios and negotiate licenses for their patented inventions.

In addition to his J.D., Damon holds a Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering specializing in advanced manufacturing processes, computational mechanics, and materials science and engineering. He is an author and co-author in numerous research publications that received a considerable number of citations.

Patent Litigation Experience

Damon has experience in civil litigation in both state and federal court, as well as Patent and Trial Appeal Board (PTAB). Damon has represented plaintiffs in disputes involving patent litigation matters. He has also helped clients obtain patent licenses and evaluate the strength of infringement allegations.

Academic and Industrial Experiences

At University of Houston Law Center, Damon focused his studies on intellectual property law. Damon served as an article editor at Houston Business and Tax Law Journal (HTBLJ). He won a joint scholarship from the Atlas IP Inn of Court and Houston Intellectual Property Law Association (HIPLA), as well as a diversity scholarship from Shook, Hardy, and Bacon. Damon interned for The Honorable David Hittner, United States District Court, Southern District of Texas. Prior to law school, Damon was a professor at Lamar University's College of Engineering.
