Annie Zhang is a member of the firm's litigation group. Her experience includes a broad range of First Amendment and media issues, complex commercial disputes, intellectual property matters, and internal investigations. Prior to joining DWT, Annie served as a law clerk to the Hon. Jesus G. Bernal of the U.S. District Court of the Central District of California. Annie received her J.D. from Stanford Law School where she was co-managing editor of the Stanford Law Review.
Planet Aid v. Center for Investigative Reporting
Secured dismissal of a libel lawsuit against The Center for Investigative Reporting and its reporters for published statements regarding Planet Aid's alleged misuse of charitable funds. Our anti-SLAPP motion was granted by the district court (2021 WL 1110252 (N.D. Cal. Mar. 23, 2021)) and affirmed by the Ninth Circuit (Planet Aid v. Reveal, 44 F.4th 918 (9th Cir. 2022)).
Airbnb, Inc. v. NGD Homesharing, LLC*
Secured favorable settlement after filing complaint seeking $11 million in damages against a property developer for breach of contract, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation (3:20-cv-00549, N.D. Cal. 2020).
Ernesto Torres v. U.S. Department of Homeland Security*
Represented immigration detainees in a putative class action lawsuit against detention facilities in Southern California challenging conditions of confinement (411 F. Supp. 3d 1036 (C.D. Cal. 2019)).
