Dec. 8, 2021 – The Los Angeles Business Journal has named Camilo Echavarria, Davis Wright Tremaine's Los Angeles partner-in-charge, as one of just four finalists for Labor & Employment Attorney of the Year.
The Journal's annual Leaders in Law Awards recognize general counsel and private-practice attorneys who've demonstrated, "exceptional legal skill and achievement across the full spectrum of responsibility" as well as "exemplary leadership" and "contributions to the Los Angeles community at large."
Echavarria, said the Journal, "combines the highest levels of performance in his specialty—employment litigation and counseling—with a strong and abiding commitment to leadership in the firm and in the profession at large."
For more than 20 years, Echavarria has worked with large and medium-sized employers in California to defend them in employment lawsuits—from single-plaintiff to class action cases. He also provides clients with practical employment advice in their day-to-day operations and helps them navigate California's complicated employment laws while understanding the need to run a profitable and successful business.
His extensive work in the community includes serving on the board of directors for the California Minority Counsel Program, the board of trustees for the Mexican American Bar Foundation, and the board of directors for Friends of the Children, Los Angeles.
Previously, Echavarria was head of Davis Wright Tremaine's diversity and inclusion committee as well as the Southern California president for the Hispanic National Bar Association.
Echavarria's many other honors include being inducted this year as a Fellow into College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.
