This Tuesday, the FCC’s Connect2Health Task Force unveiled its Mapping Broadband Health in America tool which permits users to “visualize, overlay, and analyze broadband and health data” at the national, state, county and census block levels.  The interactive tool will enable users to generate customized maps that can identify “double-burden” communities where a high incidence of health problems and low broadband deployment and adoption intersect, comparing, for example, broadband adoption in rural areas against health problems such as obesity. The Task Force anticipates that the data generated by the tool, in conjunction with other Connect2Health initiatives, will enable businesses and policymakers to better target those areas that are most in need of broadband and health innovation.
