On May 24, Project W's WEST (Women in Energy, Sustainability, and Tech) hosted Young Professionals in Energy NYC and Women's Energy Network to hear from three women who are focused on building and investing in solutions that will lead to a healthier planet. In a discussion moderated by Shruti Nayar, investors Roxanne Tully and Sue Yang-Krochmal and startup founder Karin Calvinho shared their perspectives on the most promising investment opportunities in climate tech. Decarbonization solutions – like Karin's RenewCO₂ – topped the list.
Our biggest takeaway: Women are leading the fight against climate change. Whether investing or innovating, women are on the forefront of building a more sustainable future. And that is where WEST comes in. WEST is a community of women attorneys, executives, entrepreneurs, and investors in the energy, technology and climate change spaces supported by the law firm Davis Wright Tremaine LLP. As Katie Jorrie, an energy lawyer in DWT's San Francisco office and leader of WEST notes, "women are emerging as leaders throughout the ecosystem, whether it is building more sustainable infrastructure, driving policy, or innovating in climate tech. Through WEST we aim to amplify those voices as we address some of the most urgent issues of our times."
